Event Details: The HFC Charity Cycle Ride is an London-to-Paris Challenge over 3 days in September 2015 in aid of Hedge Funds Care – Help For Children.

When: Thursday 17th September 2015 – Sunday 20th September 2015 (arriving in Paris Saturday evening)

Where: 280 miles on a bicycle from London to Paris; via Calais.

Aim: to raise £50,000 for Hedge Funds Care – Help For Children UK whose sole mission is preventing and treating child abuse in the UK.

Why does Help For Children Exist?: Hedge Funds Care – Help For Children (HFC) is a charity supported by the financial industry whose sole mission is preventing and treating child abuse in the UK

Why Help for Children? Child abuse occurs across all socio-economic, religious, racial, ethnic and class divides. In the UK alone, there are around 50,000 Children on the at risk register. You only have to open the newspaper to recognise the extent of the problem & the hopelessness of these children. Child abuse and neglect is a hidden problem, often happening behind closed doors. It is not a topic that people want to discuss and for that reason it is often misunderstood.

HFC has one Clear Goal: To raise as much money as possible to fund the programmes that prevent & treat child abuse in the UK – the programmes we fund make a difference.

Who Will Be Involved? The event is aimed at London’s Financial Services community although anyone can get involved subject to being confident in being able to meet the sponsorship criteria listed below:

Itinerary:

Day 1: London to Calais – Our challenge begins bright and early & we head south-east for 75miles to Dover. Here we catch the ferry to Calais where we will stay the night.

90 miles (approx)

Day 2: Calais to Amiens – Our ride through France takes us through the attractive Pas de Calais area, on fast open country roads. We’ll glimpse poppy fields through the Somme valley before arriving for overnight accommodation in Amiens

Day 3: Amiens to Paris

With a mixture of quiet and scenic roads we push to Paris and eventually after three hard days in the saddle, we ride into Paris. The capital of France has played host to the final stage of the world’s greatest bike race for more than a century, and cycling legends from Jacques Anquetil to Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault to Sir Bradley Wiggins have raced along the very roads that you’ll be pedalling. 80 miles (approx)
