The hedge fund business is all about taking calculated risks and we decided to bet big on the British weather by hosting our second event at Sky Bar – a beautiful glass and brushed steel atrium, perched atop the Grange Hotel in the City of London’s St Paul’s quarter. The risk paid off and 160 guests basked in glorious midsummer rays with Pimms or champagne in hand, enjoying incredible views of London’s skyline. A classic summer brunch buffet was served as our glamorous contingent of hedgies made engaging conversation and new business contacts over buzzy summer backing tracks.
As always we more than a tip of a hat to our wonderful sponsors – being supported once again by Murano Systems and Peregrine Communications, but welcoming newcomers Virgin HIP Hotels, UBER and lifestyle guide Urbanologie to the fold for the first time.
We were excited to have a BAC Mono single-seat racer from SuperVettura on show, which wowed visitors with its singular status as the only F1 road car. The ultimate toy for the successful investor? We think so…
A strong contingent from family offices, fund of funds and private banks signed up to party – representing billions of pounds of capital – names like Aberdeen Asset Management, Berenberg, Blackrock and Credit Suisse. As always the agenda was “no agenda” with hedge funds and service providers leaving the pitch books at the office and the only shop talk being where the summer was taking people. Guests were treated to a prize draw for the first time, being automatically entered for the chance to take home some impressive spoils including a luxury trip to Marrakech courtesy of Virgin Holidays. We reached for the sky and delivered!
